The Metaphysical Shock.
The Greeks called the order behind the cosmos the Logos—a cold, abstract principle. John makes the shattering claim that this ultimate Reason is a Person, who knows us fully and loves us still.
Glorifying the Son means revealing the true weight (kavod) of God's character through the self-giving love of the Cross. This revelation is essential for salvation because it makes God's ultimate beauty visible, breaking our self-absorption and inviting us inside the door to participate in the eternal, loving relationship of the Trinity.

Mothers glorify God in their very existence. Thank God that He created them to remind us that He is here and with us — and of His sacrificial love on that cross, and every day before and after that.

I now understand why the thread only goes forward. When I reflected on the fact that my eyesight is gone in my right eye, the first thoughts that came to my head were thoughts about what I was doing, and what I shouldn’t have done that had led me to this point. I lamented overworking, not giving myself rest, not going to see the doctor sooner. I lamented relationships that I kept, and how I wanted everyone to encircle me and validate me in my effort to please everyone.
